Features of die casting process

The die used in die casting is usually made of alloy material with higher strength than the parts to be processed. This process is similar to injection molding. The cost of casting equipment and mold is generally high, so it is not suitable for processing small batch of parts. However, the die-casting method is relatively simple, generally only needs four main steps, and the single cost increment is very low, so it is very suitable for the manufacturing of large quantities of parts. In addition, the surface of die casting is smoother than other casting technologies, and has higher dimensional consistency. Therefore, die casting is widely used in all casting processes.

General features of mold part design

In the output of die design, 3D modeling is used to describe the die structure and as the basis of NC machining, while 2D drawing is the basis of part machining process design. Therefore, the design of die parts requires the output of two-dimensional drawings of die parts. The machining process design of die parts not only conforms to the general characteristics of machining process design, but also must be adjusted flexibly according to its own special requirements. Its general features include the following aspects:

Identification and determination of datum

The design basis of die parts includes two aspects: Part basis and machining basis. The part datum describes the assembly surface of the part, and the machining datum should generally coincide with the part datum.
